THE UCV NOW BELONGS TO THE “EUROPEAN ATHLETE AS STUDENT” NETWORK

The European Athlete as Student (EAS) network is for universities, sports schools and other educational establishments interested in high performance sport as well as sports clubs and federations that are willing to help their athletes in their studies. The main aim of the EAS -network is to support European athletes in combining high performance sport and education.

By belonging to this network, the UCV students, as well as foreign students who decide to take part of our university will benefit from the “dual career”. Supporting the “dual career” means that the EAS-Network strives to optimize the training conditions for athlete/students but also that their future gets secured by making it possible for them to get an education or vocational training, so that they have a safe platform to start from when their sports career is over.

The main ambitions of the network include:

  • Uniting partners involved in high performance sport and education.
  • Exchanging best practice between countries and institutions.
  • Improving conditions for high performance sport and education.
  • The link between educational institutions and sport organizations.
  • Actively developing research projects in sport and education.

Some of the universities that belong to the cited network are Kyung Hee University (South Korea), University of Technology (Jamaica), University of Malta, Leeds Beckett University (England) or London South Bank University (England), among others.

Currently, the UCV is among the only three Spanish universities that are part of the EAS network.

As an EAS member, our university benefits from a number of factors, which are also useful in the development of the Dual Career Pathway, such as:

  • An annual EAS conference
  • Essential information about ongoing best practice
  • Sharing of expertise
  • Professional partnerships between institutions, coaches, teachers and students throughout nations
  • European Networking Discussions and debates around sport on a local, national and European level *Opportunities to use EAS events to promote our institution within the network
